It was fucking amazing to have a president smarter than I am, literate, able to articulate how I feel better than I could do myself.

The best thing you can do is find out how you can get your vote in as early as possible. If you can vote by mail, do it, and get it mailed in the day receive your ballot. If you can vote by mail or drive your ballot to a collection center, do that, and do it soon. If you can stand in line to vote early, do it. If you

A friend filming an update called the young man a “true hero.”

Bullshit. Candace Owens was nothing but a hose the money passed through in order to hide a rich white donor who cars less than nothing about Black people.

Yeah. Four years without carrying that extra weight would have been a real experience. Unfortunately, few of us get what we just what deserve because some of us take so much more than we deserve.

Probably a bail bondsman put up the cash using his home equity as collateral. That’s pretty common when middle class white people get arrested. It’s also why Black people rot in jail waiting for their trial...they don’t have collateral to secure a bond from a bail bondsman. The racism is everywhere you look.

“You are literally peeking into someone’s house. Discretion is obviously a lost concept these days.”

It’s somebody’s money, and they’re going to want it back. That’s what bounty hunters do.

Yeah, we all know that now. The teacher saw a his younger brother trip over something and the student picked up something that looked like a gun and place it on his desk. At that point, any teacher is required by law to act to save the children from possibly fatal consequences. That’s non-negotiable, potential six

I was speaking out against this sort of thing. I explained what should have happened. When the parents showed the object was not a firearm, that should have ended it. Even if it had been a firearm, the kid didn’t bring it to school, so the school should be out of the picture once CPS steps in.

Somebody in the school who has a reason might look. Maybe a teacher thinks he’s underperforming might look at his grades from the previous year to see if he’s fallen off. Results of seventh grade scoliosis and eighth grade vision screening would be in there, any IEP or 504 plan would be there.

“Here they probably mean the record the school has and is allowed to share.”

If I suspect a child has access to a firearm, I’m legally required to report suspected child endangerment. That’s pare of being a teacher, classroom aide, doctor, nurse, firefighter, etc.

I’ve taught something like 300 hours over Zoom so far. If this had happened with one of my students, I would have to know for certain that it was a BB gun or I’d have to call CPS because I suspected a firearm was within reach of a child. Bitch and moan if you want, but the fact is, I’d be criminally negligent if I

“If you’ve never been Black surrounded by a constant overwhelm of White—at school, your place of work, in your neighborhood—just know there can never be enough memoirs, screenplays or comedies to exhaust the complex experience.”

I can’t speak for her.

The point is to do what we claim to do whenever there’s a disaster leaving Americans unsheltered, unfed, and in need. We do it for hurricane and tornado victims, wildfire and flood victims...why not for slavery’s victims?

“Most people, regardless of race would invest very little of that money for the future.”

I don’t have all the answers, but it isn’t about individual white people’s guilt towards individual Black people, it’s about closing wound that’s kept and is keeping a vast number of people from life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Reparations can’t be cash because cash isn’t what’s been denied the descendants of enslaved people. What they’ve been deprived of is full participation in the growth of the nation, what they missed out on is wealth, the accumulated resources to weather tough times and invest in opportunities in good times.
