I lost the weight through dieting. She's only slightly below the 'healthy' BMI range. Would you be complaining about the health of someone who was 2lb over that? Probably not.
I'm guessing that her muscle gain has filled in some of the fat she lost. Otherwise she's young and her skin is still stretchy.
Thanks. I still think thin women are basically shamed via the implied 'bragging.' It's just a more socially acceptable form of judgement than mocking an overweight person. Neither is ok, and it's pretty terrible that feminist websites/bloggers often condone and promote the former.
Sorry, I deleted it because of all of the criticism. I didn't want to waste my time replying to angry people, full of excuses. You should sign up to Myfitnesspal (it's free) and keep a daily food diary. The phone app is pretty good for filling in the diary when you're out, although the website version has a useful…
She doesn't look "unhealthily skinny." It's not as if her MBI is 14. Would you say that someone 3lb over the 'normal' BMI range is "unhealthily fat"?
I'm 5'4.5 and 108 (BMI:18.3), so only 2lb underweight. My doctors say it's fine, so given that she's only 3lb less, I'm sure she's ok too.
I'm 5'4.5 and still considered healthy at 108lb (BMI: 18.3), so just 2lb underweight.
I made a post on groupthink yesterday, about losing 39lb through Myfitnesspal over the course of a year. I've kept the weight off for the past 9 months. This is despite having PCOS and taking appetite increasing medication. I thought this might be helpful to people.
She looks great. I have a BMI of 18.3 and my doctors are completely fine with it. It's not as if she ended up with loads of loose skin through the crash diet (not that I'd recommend that method), so there's no need to concern troll her.
'Fat' in America is vastly different to 'fat' elsewhere.
I've been a strict vegan for 8 years and I'd try it. The goal is to get vegan/vegetarian options in mainstream places.
No, you're well adjusted. Everyone would benefit by taking a break from obsessing about their genitals.
I'm all for body positivity, but that was a gross comment.
Despite being a feminist, 'Yuck' is my only reaction to that.
So many creepy statements in one comment...
"The humiliation of having a vagina and knowing that others know I have a vagina. Blood is evidence I have a vagina. Discharge is evidence I have a vagina."
That was awful.
Ah, you're right. I remember when someone posted a photo of all the staff in the comments (mostly all white brunettes, at the time) on an article where Jezebel complained that all Asian women look the same.
Isn't Anna Holmes a white brunette? I remember the site back in 2007.
