That is a damn good album. Both in fish-related titles and content.

An Iron Beefheart sounds like an obscure medal they’d award in mid 19th century warfare.
Alia Shawkat and Jeff Goldblum seem like they’d be a great combination.
I saw Carnage, but only once. he was ok in that, but not memorable, especially with Waltz and Foster in there. And Walken is a tremendous actor but I see his humor, especially as of late, as suffering some of the same problems as Farrell. Effective, but just delivering what people have already seen, enjoy, and has…
Off the top of my head “In Bruges” was the zenith of his cocky laddish asshole guys. He brought some of the same energy to “Daredevil” and I thought even though the movie was bad, he was a pitch perfect Bullseye (pun intended) and I wish he’d had the chance to reprise the role in a better setting, such as squaring off…
I agree with you on all your points. And in a non-pandemic setting, I could think of worse pastimes, as a (I’m guessing) middle aged queer uncle without a whole lot going on in his own life (hence being a busybody in other people’s) than sitting in a corner at a wedding and getting sloshed on gin whilst judging people…
I agree with everything you said, and I also feel like those are some super valid questions. Like, how does this guy know his niece is a virgin? What makes him so sure she is gay? Her *and* the guy she’s marrying that he surely doesn’t know nearly as well. Even if the kids realize later on that the LW’s hypothesis was…
I agree with most of your second paragraph, especially the final sentence. Though I do not trust the LW when he says the clues are obvious. Like, there’s a fine line between being supportive for people you think might be in the closet, and just using stereotypes to confirm suspicions. The only clue he included, that I…
Rear Window is one of the best email sign-offs I’ve read on this page in a hot minute. Allusion, entendre, fits with the content. A+
I also misjudged it at first, I thought it had something to do with the background checks they apparently did at the sex party. Like, “facial recognition” to make sure nobody crashes their exclusive orgy. Which I guess, sort of happened in “Eyes Wide Shut” if I recall correctly, sneaking into an orgy uninvited.
Mask of the Phantasm was amazing. And they had a Frank Miller one on this list with Year One.
I definitely agree about Assault on Arkham. Wish it had made the list. Had a great balance of humor and action and the right level of gore without being gratuitous. Also, not too much Batman, just the right amount.
Gods and Monsters is my favorite on this list. Then JL: Dark and New Frontier. Wish Assault on Arkham had made the cut, that was definitely better than the live action Suicide Squad movies by a large margin.
Yes, I’d say that even though he lost some of his idealism, he never truly lost his optimism or good cheer. Like, he got plenty depressed, but managed to bounce back due to friendships and self-discovery. Him and Nog really improved a bunch.
It is funny, cause she has really nice eyes as well. Kind of a Sophie’s choice there, only both options are great.
Good points about Daddario’s crazy eyes and emoting, though in those clips it also looked like the actress who played Val, Maddie Hasson, was having a great time being evil. Hopefully they both get more mainstream recognition. Also a fan of Knoxville as a sly televangelist.
I’m also a fan of her. And Schwarzman. Hopefully this doesn’t derail her career, but I don’t think she’ll have a problem finding work.
Black Mirror can be difficult to watch for a variety of reasons, body-horror, pitch-black plotlines, an uncomfortable sense that the dystopias they present aren’t that fictional. Though the episode in question, Nosedive, was right up there with some of the more brutal ones in being difficult to rewatch. I cringed so…
I totally agree, he was an arrogant creeper early on, but got to be a lot better when he got some experience under his belt. He was a real hero and much tougher than I originally expected him to be, all of his interactions with Section 31 and the prison camp showed a lot of mettle. His backstory was pretty good too,…
In early seasons I felt the same way about Kira and Bashir. She was pretty one-note and he was a creeper. Though in season 4 and onwards they get to be a lot better. Bashir went from one of my least to one of my most favorite characters. His friendship with Miles and Garak was pretty heartwarming, in addition to his…
