I’m not trying to be overly contentious here, because I think we agree on a lot of points, but if Goeth is using prisoners for the purpose of “keeping his rifle skills honed. He was using them as targets, as being worth less than paint on a wall” then how is that different from a fictional camp director using

Reminds me of when they had a Disney Original movie, “The Color of Friendship” where a South African character, in a moment of anger, calls her black friend a very specific Afrikaans racial slur and that was ok to show on tv (to be fair they did use it as a teaching moment about how racism is not cool).

Compromise: We get all the grown adult scenarios of a 30-ish Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo but they all have to wear full Mandalorian armor to cover the naughty bits. And animated Lizzie hangs out with Baby Yoda.

You make some great points. The one thing where I side with the Auschwitz memorial completely is that the writers could have used a fictional concentration camp or just shown the iron bars without the infamous “Arbeit Macht Frei” and not mentioned it by name. That would have robbed the camp of a bit of its painful

I agree with everything you said. To me it was more... overwrought I guess, rather than tacky. Definitely memorable. And it makes the opening credits a looooot more powerful. And the part where Meyer mentions the Jew playing never lost, like as a bittersweet aside, Pacino really sold that.

I agree with what you said about real life Nazis, to an extent, because there is evidence of Nazis using their prisoners for sport instead of just function. However, to defend the writers, they are not making a serious drama or a documentary, they are making an obviously fictional grindhouse depiction of the cruelty

Yeah when I watched it with my friend she said after she saw that episode she looked up if the chess stuff actually happened. Not because she thought “Hunters” was very factual, but because it seemed like something Nazis *could* do. Like, she wouldn’t put it past them. I get why the Auschwitz museum wants to keep

I think the series overall is (purposefully) schlocky and over the top and a lot of it is unrealistic. I don’t want to give any spoilers but a lot of things in the “Hunters” world require a suspension of disbelief. So for their silly, yet also poignant at times, grindhouse show I think it makes more sense to make up

Creating their own fictional version of it, to me at least, seems less offensive than bringing 100% real world tragedy to their over the top silly grindhouse show. “Hunters” doesn’t pretend to be historically accurate and takes huge liberties with many events (not to spoil anything) so inventing their own

I know right? Clear liquors always taste better straight up.

Yeah that’s why I like the Pre-sequel and the telltale games because spending all that time with Jack you almost empathize with the guy. He can definitely be likeable at times and then you see him turn into a power hungry monster like right before your eyes.

Oh yeah his trailer was pretty funny. Forgot about that. I haven’t seen Knock Knock but heard good things. Anyway his tone of humor mostly seems different than Borderlands. Like, his is dark and sick rather than broad and overt and insistent like in the games.

“Pinot Noir” from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Also the show’s theme song is pretty damn catchy.

“Toast of London” had some great, weird songs.

“Mudertrain” is my favorite. Then “Awaken” and “Murmaider II”

Almost any song on “Bob’s Burgers” or “Metalocalypse”

Idris Elba as Roland, Pedro Pascal as Mordecai, Amy Adams as Lilith, Tom Hardy as Brick. Ryan Reynolds as Handsome Jack.

I agree about Telltale, they clearly got the best out of the setting and characters. Presequel was pretty good at that as well. I just am not sure about Eli Roth cause that makes me think this is going to be like a gorier version of the games and kind of iron out the humor. He seems like personally a pretty funny guy

The gameplay is definitely a draw to the main series, but the good folks at Telltale Games have shown us that the characters and the world can prove to have a surprising amount of depth. The story and adventures in “Tales From the Borderlands” was pretty good but the characters were the best part. That and the music/mo
