Well I liked the book a lot and Robert Pattinson, so it was right up my alley. They cut some of the more wild/fun stuff from the book, but Cronenberg is still the man at directing and Pattinson shouldered the lead role pretty well. Not a lot of action, but that is sort of to be understood when the premise of the

Ska would definitely not be the first genre I’d use to describe The Clash if I was asked about them. But I can see elements of ska in some of their songs and also how their music, however you want to classify it genre-wise, would influence ska bands. Though I look forward to Beto and de Blasio arguing in a town hall

Or if Ratburn was trying to get with an underage girl.

Triple feature with "Three Skeleton Key" and Vincent Price!

Well the debate is especially interesting because the “territory” they are contesting is on physical, mental, moral etc grounds. And a Witch/Puritan can convert or corrupt (depending on your view) people to their side to live amongst the enemy. So the Woods vs. The Town can get blurred outside of the “Young Goodman

Oh I read a few reviews of it before I eventually saw it, so I knew it was going to be a slow burn period fest. Like it had a lot of unsettling stuff, but not really a traditional horror film.

I only saw it once but that singing scene stood out to me as well. I thought it was indicative of Black Phillip corrupting them. But they were little kids, easily influenced. So if BP was manipulating them I don’t see them as being malicious, just annoying kids who got caught up in something bigger than they could

Neither the witches nor the Puritans are “good guys” they each hurt a lot of people for their own selfish aims. They might be diametrically opposed, but they still are both dangerous and controlling and people like Tamsin get caught in the chaos between them until they're forced to choose.

Is that you, Hercule Poirot?

He’s played a jacked billionaire who rides around in vehicles before (Cosmopolis). He can do it again!

I think it actually showed how all the witch accusers were wrong. Like, all the people they put to death were obviously not witches because the real threat was always steering them in the wrong direction. Tamsin was treated as a witch the whole time even though she was innocent of the misfortunes that happened to the

I remember they were speaking to Black Phillip but I read that as them just being harassed by the supernatural like the rest of the family was. Like, all of them had altercations with the witches that plagued the area where they settled. The twins seemed super annoying but not like they were setting things up. I

Real talk, those twins were awful and I didn’t feel bad at all when bad stuff happened to them. Her other brother was a good kid though, I was sad when he died. Comparing him to the twins is like comparing oranges to... Apples.

Agreed, that part with the apple... my god. And yeah if it opens near me I will definitely see “The Lighthouse”, or any film by Eggers, in theaters. Though given the black and white and the stacked aspect ratio, I’m guessing it won’t get a huge release area.

The Lighthouse” looks like a lot of fun. Shame it probably won’t get the wide release, as you mentioned, but I am psyched for it. Dafoe and Pattinson are two of my favorites, so when you combine that with supernatural sea myths, alcohol, and homo-eroticism, I am all for it. Also, I liked “The Witch” a lot.

I dunno, I think “Knight of Cups” was fun to enjoy, not in like a theater or a rigid viewing, but just to have on while you’ve got a bunch of people over. You can pay attention and check in/out whenever you want and it sort of works with the unscripted/unguided improvisation. Did the same thing with “Thin Red Line”

Yeah that schtick of his can get old. The good thing about The Boys is that the actual group is full of some interesting characters. The Supers are all thin parodies though. Hopefully the show kind of saves the good stuff, cuts out Ennis's worst impulses, and doesn't lag as much as the "Preacher" adaptation did.

Yeah like how Ennis loathes the genre of superheroes for the most part and that is what makes "The Boys" a pretty successful comic book. Or at least, not boring at all!

Or like a “Superman: Red Son” or “Gods and Monsters" type deal.
