Yes! Jackson, Capaldi, the ghost of Gandolfini, and maybe Gregg Popovich to have a barbershop quartet of people you don’t want to piss off or they will just intimidate you into a puddle of quivering less than. I’d watch that movie.

Those posts made me want to look up “Doom Generation” and watch it immediately. Thank you. I haven’t seen it, though I was only five when it came out so I’ll let that be my excuse.

Even the “best of” cursing video of that show, “The Thick of It” is still like eight minutes long. Full of a bunch of really short yet devastating clips. So damn funny.

Props to bad Janet in the background just playing on their phone and not giving a fork.

Hell yeah “The Thick of it” and also all the swearing Capaldi did on “Skins” in such a brief role. It was fun seeing him on a family-ish show like “Doctor Who” where he can’t curse, but they still referenced “The Thick of it” once or twice with some of his less profane slang from that show.

Here’s a gin & tonic and a fan. That’ll chase away the vapors.

Yeah I had to look up what Israel looked like myself, as you mentioned her looks aren’t nearly as widespread in the public eye. However, she looks nothing like Julianne Moore, so if they’d cast her and not used prosthetics it would have been pretty far off base. McCarthy, especially with that haircut, was way closer.

My god you’re right! What was I thinking?

Nah that’s Duke.

Yeah I think Moore and Holofcener both had good points. Moore wanted to actually resemble the person she’s studied and is supposed to portray, hence the suit and prosthetic. Holofcener doesn’t want the distractions that can come with all that, so she just hired somebody else, McCarthy, who is obviously talented enough

Resembling the character that she’s portraying can be important for both a realistic effect and also for the actress herself, embodying the role she has researched and studied. I mean, look at Christian Bale or Bryan Cranston when they played Cheney and LBJ respectively. Bale went through (another) wild body

I like how when they’re listing his films they put “Dune” last.

It isn’t a great movie, but it doesn’t age as poorly as some of his other stuff. Also, apparently he had a dope alternate ending, but couldn’t afford to shoot it. So look that up after you see the film.

Don’t forget about asking bi people a million questions about their sexual history and preferences! I swear, if I had a dollar for every time I mentioned I was bi in a conversation and then had to field a bunch of follow-up questions about what set of genitals I prefer... I’d have a lot of dollars.

That’s some weird Ian Fleming shit right there. That is pretty much how “Goldfinger” ends in the novelization, James Bond sleeps with a lesbian and “turns her straight” because apparently he’s just that good in bed. That, along with the racism and misogyny, are some reasons why the Bond books really have not aged all

I actually think the start of Yoga Hosers was the only part of it that’s worthwhile, the kids hanging out and talking about regular teenage bullshit. Once Johnny Depp and a bunch of Nazi sausages show up it really goes from mediocre to godawful. Those teenagers being friends in real life and having a believable

Can’t go wrong with Alan Rickman as an angel. Chris Rock was also very good.

Dogma and Red State age pretty well. Chasing Amy? Not so much
