Imagine thinking people would not see that you did not always have a chute on in your other videos on the same channel, not recognize that jumping out is not how you handle engine failure, and not guess that your escape from the plane with a selfie stick was staged.

Social media was a mistake.

Yea I don’t know why we give technology a pass for things we get mad at other humans for. It’s basically “when my kid does it, it’s cute, when yours does it, it’s irritating”. It’s still a decently impressive system though. Surprised to hear Tesla doesn’t rely on Lidar and such.

Obligatory

I think we should strongly consider “would immediately end a driving test” as a valid criteria to stop a public beta of any self-driving system. Until it can complete (and pass) a basic driving test, we should probably limit test vehicles to people hired and trained to properly monitor and control the vehicle.

As someone that used to drive a trailer dump in Massachusetts. I found it peculiar that MA will let you weigh up to 104,000lbs in an 18 wheeler with no minimum length, as long as you purchase an overweight permit. We were the trucks that carried asphalt out to the road construction. I found it a little self serving

And just like when you hit the border of Rhode Island.  Mass roads are better than RI.  And I would swear that Connecticut takes extra care of the roads near RI just because.

This. Some states care about their roads, many do not. In my state, their is difference even from county to county.

where the border isn’t well marked, but you can see and feel the border because the road goes from all torn up and bumpy to fabulous. There’s a distinct, visible, line.

Time to call Matt’s Off-Road Recovery!!

going outdoors is about striking a balance between discomfort and tranquility in an inherently uncomfortable setting.

Not a state, but here’s your winner:

I think pretty much any major metropolitan area in the US is gonna be scary/stressful in some way. I live in LA, and when someone mentions “LA traffic” they’re talking not just about 1 city, they’re talking about a 34k square mile area with CONSTANT traffic on the freeways, and cities connected by suburbs and

The North East - including New England down to about Maryland all is perhapse the most “English” of the Americas. Come down to the South for a different experience.

I have a Quickjack, there really is no place to put jack stands when you are using it with most cars, and frankly it is FAR more stable than a car on jack stands anyway. Especially once the car is as far up in the air as a Quickjack at max lift (they have low and high locking positions). Never mind that getting BOTH

By this logic, stationary lifts should use jack stands as well. And your jack stands should have jack stands, because the jack stands could wobble and/or fail causing the car to fall.

It has locking arms that act as jack stands, it’s not just hydraulics, so yes, it has built in jack stands. It’s probably even fine to use it that way, even if you find it visually unsafe. And if you’re that worried, yes, you can use regular jack stands as a contingency.

Good to know! Thanks for being a voice of experience.

I had a set of the first gen XL Quick Jacks. I never really had much concern with things moving so much as things failing. The structure of these are somewhat light weight and the construction - especially the safety locks and pad areas - was pretty ugly looking. They’ve improved the safety locks, I imagine build

Yes, there has been an increase in subway crime compared to 2020. Though, that’s due to the low ridership caused by the coronavirus pandemic
