Tesla is actively fighting making their cars safe and convenient to drive.  The use of touchscreens for basic controls is beyond my ability to comprehend.  Truly a triumph of form over function.

Agree with your point for sure but vessels under sail do not always have the right of way over any powered vessel.  The rules of the road are not that simple.  Restricted maneuverability, draft, etc. are all considerations.

I have a C6 Grand Sport and it is definitely fast in a way that no other car I have owned is fast. I never realized how definite a line there was between cars that prioritized performance and those that were merely fast, but there is.

The lack of physical controls completely boggles my mind. It is an objectively bad way of doing things and yet manufacturers, and especially tesla, just keep doubling down on it.  I guess people like it for the same reason they like an overpriced poor quality electric car - because its new and therefore must be cool.

So the issue here is that dedicated race cars which have literally nothing in common with a normal car except a superficial resemblance in the body shape which are designed to race on a track where you only turn left...are optimized to turn left?  This was the breaking point?  All the other myriad ways in which NASCAR

Pretty big hit to the site since they are definitely my favorite contributors. I’m not going to just stop reading the site, that would be silly, but the content on Jalopnik and related sites has had some pretty iffy moments lately.  Losing two very strong contributors is not great.

That’s a pretty fucking good point.

While it seems Canadian law enforcement and political officials are happy to remain locked in the grip of conspiracy theorists, white supremacist and people who don’t understand basic science, the people of Ottawa have had enough.

He’s against government mandates for the vaccine despite the fact that he is vaccinated himself and pro-vaccine. That is not an unreasonable position.

I’m almost tempted to check in at a message board I used to read that is inhabited by trumpettes just to witness the hypocrisy.  It’s very tempting but I think I’ve finally learned my lesson that it’s not worth it.

No and no.

Actually the trick is not to do it at all so that you’re not acting like a shithead and, by the way, also breaking the law which requires you to keep right except to pass that the majority of states have in place.

This is a great example of everything that’s wrong with highway driving in the U.S.  You have one guy who is driving like a fucking maniac weaving all over the road who then encounters another guy whose dick is too short to move right and let a faster driver pass.

Level 2 semi-automated systems are not compatible with how humans work,

It’s good that they’re gaining traction. More sales = more money for R&D. The U.S. is probably a bit of a trickier use case given the long distances that can be involved with going places, but it’s getting there and it’s definitely a solvable problem. Agreeing on a single charging connection is going to be pretty

So I was critical in the other thread, despite my love of boats, but now seeing it I don’t mind it. It’s a sailboat, which is a huge plus. The Black Pearl was a really interesting boat from a design perspective, but practically it’s a bit gross. This is not so far over the top.

Deciding to play a version of GT is like a major undertaking, I haven’t played it in a while.  I think I am going to pull the trigger on this, though.  I finally have the space to get a good setup with wheel and pedals.

Exactly. And the problem is exacerbated in a city like Boston where context is absolutely everything. There’s no lines on the road to mark lanes.  The roads are narrow and one way and filled with parked cars and vehicles double parking.  You’re expected to take the right of way when you have it, or else you’ll be

AHA! I almost skipped this article after the karaoke mic story and the petition story solidified my hatred of Tesla for another couple of years, but I am glad I did not!

Every single article I read about Tesla makes me hate them more. It feels irrational until yesterday’s article on it’s new Karaoke mics, and now this.
