The Element doesn’t have great clearance, but enough to get through mountain passes in 8" of snow without tire chains (good snow tires are key). Just observations from south of the border, but I’ve traveled throughout BC and also bicycled across Ontario & Quebec (can’t speak to other provinces). BC & Ontario seemed to have the French translation on most signage that I’ve encountered, but I struggled to find any English whatsoever in Quebec.
