Ah yes, back when every Showtime show was just “this character is a [occupation] but, get this, they’re also a [sort of unexpected thing based on the occupation].”

This is the same tactic the Army used against Noriega.

Shocked there aren’t more Ronco products on this list. I thought for sure we’d see the Egg Scrambler

I’ve never actually used it but isn’t this what https://trakt.tv is? That’s been around for very long time. This looks slick though.

And I really wish I could be uncynical enough to be able to be swept up in the narrative the film is trying to feed me instead of being preoccupied with the mass casualty event it’s trying its best not to dwell on.

I understand this is not about the content of this article but I am compelled to say how much I loathe this headline trend that Lifehacker is really leaning into of “You’re Wrong About _____” or “You’re Doing _____ Wrong” or “Actually, _____ Is Good.” It’s so weirdly adversarial and insulting. I guess maybe the views

Did... did an Avatar write this?

I can’t hardly wait for the second season of this show.

I do like the idea of the show doing a sort of How I Met Your Mother where the actual killing of Eve happens in the final moments.

I’ve long argued that imperial measurements are generally nonsensical and terrible and the metric system is far better. However, a particular hill that I am willing to die on is that Fahrenheit is a much better system for describing weather. The outside air temperature has next to nothing to do with the boiling point

The distinction between the two is among the many things that the Simpsons taught me.

I watched the original It (which I guess was actually a TV miniseries or something) for the first time when I was in college and it is absolutely terrible. Like laughably bad. I love Tim Curry as much as the next guy but it is not the least bit scary and yet people my age who saw it as children always seemed

I always thought it was interesting that, because it’s the title track of the best selling album of all time, no one really thinks of Thriller as a Halloween novelty song, which by basically any definition, it definitely is.

Isn’t that snail thing just the plot of It Follows, which came out in 2014?

It’s interesting to me that, when I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s, it seemed like pop culture was mostly using Southern California slang, from Valley Girl to the Ninja Turtles to Clueless. Whereas this is mostly NYC / Long Island slang. I don’t know that it means anything really, just observing.

Oh I don’t actually know if he considers that dead-naming or not - just meant to say that it must be SO much more complicated to come out as trans or non-binary after already being famous for many years and having a lot of work out there under your “old” identity.

I think that’s exactly right, it will just take getting used to. I definitely went through (and am still going through) the same thing. And it’s extra weird when it’s a person that’s been in the public eye for a long time. Like I can’t imagine what it must be like for Elliot Page to be dead-named by millions of DVD

Just using they/them as singular IS the movement. That’s how language changes. I think it only confuses our brains at first because we’ve been taught that languages have immutable “rules,” when in fact that couldn’t be less true. If we spoke early modern English, your comment could have been about how you couldn’t get

John Walker was a dud

At first, I wanted to be shocked that the show casually hit someone with a bus like that but then I remembered the time they didn’t know how to wrap up the “Carl’s obsessive girlfriend” storyline so they just had her ostensibly murdered off screen and never spoke of it again.
