Yeah I hear that, it does seems rather unnecessarily complicated sometimes, though I think the last season did a better job of explaining things and streamlining the mystery. I agree the Toby thing was unnecessarily shocking and manipulative, the constant tear-jerking moments can get tiresome. But the quality of the acting makes this show worth it for me, they really sell the hell out of some sappy stuff and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
