I don’t think American dreams deserves to be on this list; I never saw Lester as a hero. The story is about about all these people’s desires to be an ideal that’s probably been sold/advertised to them, and how it makes them all miserable.

The eagerness to undermine these kids’ understanding of issues and their concerns is reprehensible. I’m not sure patronizing is going to be particularly helpful in persuading them that they should just be quiet, and the idea that someone is “making” that many kids do anything is laughable.
