You’re right that Remedy, while widely loved, is not really a sales powerhouse, and I imagine these decisions are made at the publisher level anyway. I was more so referring to the likes of THQ Nordic/Deep Silver (Metro Exodus) and especially 2K Games (Borderlands 3).

An advance? I understand smaller indies taking that deal, but wow, established devs and AAA publishers betting against themselves to the detriment of their customers is pretty sad.
TIL one of the biggest games on the planet, which has been out for 2 years and rakes in millions per day, does not have skill-based matchmaking or bots.

That would be why I at no point suggested that Remedy was responsible for any of these decisions.
I love Remedy but the combination of not releasing on the biggest PC storefront and an apparent choice to do zero marketing has me pretty concerned for them. I had literally forgotten it was coming out until a couple days ago.
