I don’t think they’ll do that either - BUT - I don’t doubt that Uber will ride the shift towards autonomy and use people’s idle autonomous cars to spring into action in the same fashion that Tesla thinks it will (and probably should).

Only in the most distopian society would losing a billion dollars be considered acceptable.
On a side note, Tesla is already planning the fleet of self driving vehicles to compete in this sphere. To add to this, I feel bad about UBER drivers, and whenever I have used them (a few times a year), I tip them very decently, Uber is like Wal-Mart.
