I was not prepared for how much of a violent psychopath “Physical Instrument” was going to be. So far, I’ve managed to channel his powers for good rather than evil, but goddamn if he doesn’t want to punch and/or break everything. It’s hilarious ... and terrifying.

Woot! Japan AVC folks represent! In Hiroshima, that last typhoon barely brought clouds.

I thought, for a second, that I’d gotten a game over when I read something that ... maybe I shouldn’t have read. THe title card cut in, and it faded to black, and my reptile brain started talking again ... but then my dude woke up again. That was a shocking few seconds.

I beat Crying Suns last night. By the end, I feel I’d more or less mastered the main systems of the game and would generally get a reasonably successful run so long as I met one particular start condition. So, I was ready for it to end. I’m glad it ended when it did, and I was fully satisfied by where they took the

This week I’ve dug into Crying Suns pretty hard, and am closing in on the game. On further analysis, there is a bit more complexity than FTL in terms of resource gathering tradeoffs, but FAR FAR less customization is possible for the tactical battles. However, the Crying Suns tactical battles are more fun, I think. In

X3 is supposed to be the hard one, huh? My friends were dicks. I saw them playing the game in the common room, and decided to give it a shot. I was already the old man of the group by then, so it had a bit of “I’ll show you youngins that I’ve still got it” sort of challenge swagger. They gave me some shit,

I’ve been playing a whole bunch of things in little bite-sized chunks, instead of anything big and impressive.

I won’t go so far as to saw the writing or humor in Borderlands is, or has even been, particularly good, but I always enjoyed it. I laughed quite a bit. I even kinda like Claptrap. I liked Handsome Jack as well, even in the pre-sequel. And the gameplay is fine. Like you, it’s my main exposure to RPG shooter mechanics,

Damn, I loved Blood and Wine. I don’t think it could quite top the sad and melancholy tone of Heart of Stone, which was strange and episodic and just delightful at every turn, but you’re right about the beauty of Touissant.

I wanted to like this game, but then I had to climb a radio tower. I couldn’t figure out how to climb it properly, and kept falling down, where a giant mutant dude was waiting. And if I killed him first, another one just showed up. It was stupid and annoying. And also, I have a visceral fear of heights, and so the

That was fucking epic. It may not beat your heartmelting tale of King’s Quest 3 from back in the day, but it was truly among your best.

I think I am nearing the end of Assassins Creed : Origins. It’s been fun, but the beauty of the world has only just kept me going, and only for fairly short bursts at a time.

Given that the company, the bundle, the series, and the game names are all kept hidden, I can only imagine that it is intentional and for an effect upon the final reveal.

I’ve not got much to say this week. I continue to cut through Assassins Creed Origins, and Egypt continues to be just as beautiful as I reported last time. I know Krokodilopolis would probably be a mosquito infested hellhole of everlasting sweat and crushing humidity, but damn it seems like a kinda nice place to live,

That party in the DLC was amazing. All the parties in The Witcher were amazing, really.

What, no FFRK grinding this week? Are you even the same person? JK

The Crystal Heart is the whole point of going to the Crystal Peak, so that wasn’t out of order cheesing, that was Mission Accomplished!  I still can’t wrap my head around your hatred for the Fungal Wastes. Platforming BS of the sort at Crystal Peak annoyed me far, far more than the bounce pads, which I actually

Thank you for also hating old “wacky” adventure game BS. I bounced HARD off that game both times I tried to play it, repulsed by the environment and unable to even vaguely solve any of the puzzles.

The reviews on Waypoint and Rock Paper Shotgun give a good sense of the game from a couple of angles.

This week I’ve been slowly plugging away at Assassins Creed : Origins, and have been absolutely loving it. The gameplay and story are whatever, but goddamn do I love their recreation of a tiny snippet of “Ancient Egypt.” The cities are a bit meh, though I did like canal-ridden Memphis, but the countryside is just
