Now playing

My wife and I had been together for seven and half years (from soph. year college) when we got hitched. “Our song” wasn’t appropriate for a whole host of reasons (it was K-Ci and Jojo’s All my Life 0 with the ridiculous line, close to me you’re like my mother/father/sister/borther; not a good first dance).

Leaving aside his dismissal of the part that racism plays, I think you’re right, this is surprisingly spot on.

For the Black people on this site, that’s how internalized negative attitudes about Black people are. There’s always a “well, if you would just speak differently, dress differently, straighten your hair, lighten your skin, get a degree, go to church” and the list goes on and on and on of all the things WE need to do

Hold the damn phone!
