That white dress gave me the shivers. I mean, one wrong move and you are gushing like the elevator lobby at The Overlook Hotel.

Girl that’s too much dip on your chip.
Right now she’s on a roll smacking down Republicans and acknowledging her past mistakes. If Harris tries to become the arbiter of what kind of discourse is safe, it’s going to blow up in her face. Leftists won’t trust someone who was strictly letter of the law even if it meant…
“The Red Sox manager noted that he told Red Sox management about his decision and was fully supported.”
This life long Yankees fan applauds this decision. It’s time we stop treating this piece of shit like any other *president.” He hasn’t earned that right. He has acted and governed like the leader of his base. Good can you all find a small island to yourselves & leave the rest of us the fuck alone
I have no car. What else can I do? If you want to help babies like these: https://give.aviary.org/campaign/flamingos-in-peril/c223505
I hope they use. Anybody that has worked in healthcare for any amount of time will tell you that it’s common for minorities to be treated with a kind of disdain or disregard. And if that’s not enough there are any number of studies that highlight all of the disparities in the level of care we get. It doesn’t cost…
If two poor folks marry each other, they’re still gonna be poor. Marriage doesn’t magically confer assets on people, and right-wing assholes have been beating this drum for 30 years. I’m at least glad that he is no longer up for any kind of post, but I do hate constantly being reminded that there are people this…
If I could get from my house to my office (12 miles) by bus in less than two hours and four transfers? Sure. Or if there was a train? Absolutely. Or if I could ride my bike the entire way (or even mostly) on designated bike lanes and avoid major highways? Well, only if there was a way to shower and dress at the office…
There is a bus stop near my house - but I would have to transfer 3 times to get anywhere near my office (which is only two blocks from the bus depot, and in what is basically “downtown” for where I live). It would take me an hour to make a bus trip that takes me 10-12 minutes by car. I just can’t afford to lose two…
🙋🏻♀️ Yes! Gave up my car when I moved to San Francisco but once we had kids and moved to the suburbs it wasn’t practical anymore and had to get another one. We are lucky enough to be able to walk to the grocery store and some restaurants still. We also have solar and we compost because we’re lucky that our solid…
Maybe? Problem is that suburban density sucks and the buses/trains don’t run on everybody’s schedules. When commuting can take 3-4 hours per day with the walking and multiple transfers interrupting those hours, it is obvious why so many choose to drive to save an hour or two. Plus, it means taking Uber/Lyft/taxi home…
Never owned a car in 37 years. I do own a motorcycle, however...
I have never in my life owned a car. There have been times when it would have been convenient (250mi trip to visit my mother is NOT cheap by plane and needed a ride when evacuating a hurricane), but I have never otherwise needed it.
I don’t have a car, never owned one. I take public transport wherever I need to go - although I have the benefit of living in a big city with fairly excellent public transport options. It’s not perfect - what is? - but I have managed to manage on my own for over 25 years.
We purposely bought an old house (built to catch breezes in the summer) in a walkable area where we could reduce our dependence on cars. We would 100% lean in to public transportation if it was available (and have used it in any area we lived that had it). We also community garden and are planting all of our home…
My office is at the ass end of nowhere and they’ve cancelled our shuttle service, so the car is still required when I actually do turn up in person (work from home about 60% of the time).
Literally impossible in the area I live in =/
Would at least leave car at home a lot more for sure. Among other things there is job/career uncertainty, if I lose my current source of income and need to get a job in a hurry, and many listed jobs require or at least prefer having a car/ “reliable source of transportation.”
Mass transit here is often running later…
I’m 30 and i live in an area where i have easy access to transit, cabs and rideshare. (not NYC, a well connected part of LA). I havent owned a car since 2012 and have no plans to anytime soon. i dont need one for work and its so expensive and stressful to own one and not worth the hassle for me.
