Somehow, racism is the only problem that ever existed in the world that can be solved by simply ignoring it.

My life is over.

Black folks are rarely afforded the privilege of self defense.

I’m 34 years old and earn $10/hr. And not in a state that is getting a minimum wage increase. Cool cool.

At my workplace, where I’m doing entry level work (I’ve been in the workforce for most of my twenties, though), we’re getting a raise from $11.25 to $13.60. This is due, in large part, to the fact that many similar businesses pay at least that much and other businesses, like Target, are giving $12.00 at entry level.

Naw, you aren’t the only one. But I’ve had that experience too which made me extra pissy about it.

Tipping is also an integral part of harassment against workers - overwhelmingly women - in the service industry. “I give you free money, so therefore I own a piece of you”. Patrons know they can get away with it, because waitresses need their tips to pay the rent.

for workers who earn tips, the minimum is an abysmal $2.13 an hour.

I feel like I’m the only one who sees the Ansari story as so bad. I was horrified upon reading it, but apparently this is just normal for some people.

Agreed. I’m a former police officer, and when the cops showed up, and it became clear that he was, indeed, a paying guest of the hotel, they should have apologized to the guest for the trouble, and read the "guards" the riot act for calling them without confirming that he was actually doing what they accused him of.

Just chiming in here to say that I don’t think the Aziz Ansari story is a grey area either—maybe not criminal, but he did not have enthusiastic consent.

....and all these people who are blaming the victim despite actual evidence of a sexual assault are exactly why DAs are so reluctant to try sex crimes. “Did he assault the person?” “Yes” “Okay, then that’s a guilty verdict. The facts are all that matter” “BUT............” Fuck you all.

Your whole shit’s moronic.

What’s funny is that people are so convinced that being an actor is a special talent that no one else but the rarefied few can do. As if “losing” Kevin Spacey would be some sort of impactful event. But it wouldn’t!

We’ve covered other women who will be congressional newbies in January. Here are just a few examples:

Hell, I am shocked she even acknowledged they were human.

Woman literally looks like she came out of a casting call for the asshole security force in ‘District 9'

This one goes out to the two or three comments I saw on Spacey’s Underwood impersonation post a couple of days ago, talking about how #MeToo has gone too far and innocent until proven guilty and how no man is safe against baseless accusations.

Whether your desire is to be a RN, a PA, a NP or a MD, at the end of the day letters after your name are only letters.
