Yeah, fuck Ubi. We get one of these reports every few weeks, it feels like, and it’s half past time for the CEO to go. It’s clearly rooted in to the company culture and until they’ve made some actual changes, I’m going to continue to not purchase their products (Says a guy who owns every pre-Valhalla iteration of the

Hi. I'm a lawyer (so I can afford some luxury items) and because I have a young kid and a wife to share the TV screen with, I have been dying for a solution like this for a long time, so I can play modern games sitting on the couch staring at a smaller screen.

You think that’s bad - yesterday I announced a new line of Steamed Ducks. Not a peep from the media.

Yep. My number one interest in this is less ‘how well does it function as a handheld’ and more ‘is this a (relatively) low-cost, low-effort way to get PC games to run on my TV?’ And a lot of that is going to depend on ease of use, I think. Just slapping the Steam marketplace onto a handheld and calling it a day isn’t

The use of “Director’s Cut” in video games never made any sense, for reasons that Kojima describes here, but it’s ultimately just another vestige of video games trying to “be movies” - or more specifically, to be recognized on the level of film in the mainstream. “Complete Edition” and other such subtitles make way

Oooo maybe they’ll add in a teleporting law enforcement system, it’d certainly fit the Witcher universe better!

“He was SUPPOSED to be 5 feet to the right (i.e. in the next room on the toilet) but those prudes from Standards & Practices wouldn’t have it.”

XD I’d say he was already waiting outside and gave up—came in. Ditched some things and decided to play.

Yeah, I was hoping for a little more “oomph” to cut back on the slowdown. I have a feeling Nintendo wanted that, but supply chain issues are forcing their hand.

More than 65% of switch owners use their Switch in handheld ONLY mode. That’s a startling number. I think less than 5% now use it only docked. And the remainder have mixed use scenarios.

I mean... It’s not for you. It’s for people like me, who play mostly in handheld mode but would like a bigger/better screen.

This is crazy to me. Why even bother? I almost exclusively use my Switch docked, so I’d be getting... an ethernet cable and not much else.

Also, it’s worth noting that you’ve been able to use a USB-ethernet adapter with the Switch since it launched - it’s good that they’re baking an ethernet port into the dock but it’s not really new functionality.

Control was my litmus test too. I expected to be all in on the visuals, but playing g at 60fps is just so satisfying. And for a game like R&C it just feels so much better.

Digital Foundry had a good video on the subject. You lose some crowds in the opening parade, and I think the fur/hair rendering density is slightly dialed back, but otherwise it is lower base resolution.

Are these details available in all modes or just fidelity?

I mean, the difference is in your comment: “freemium.” If I pay 60-70 bucks for a game and have to watch ads between rounds/games/quarters/periods/matches/whatever, then they can definitely fuck right off.

If the games end up being free-to-play, then it’s not really an issue, however annoying it is.
