They must be so pissed when they find out about women who ARE minorities.
They must be so pissed when they find out about women who ARE minorities.
Or when people wonder why they are talking about black people outside of our separate but equal history month consisting of 28 days.
I was so irritated with the whole thing. The doc actually started out with (from memory) its sole mention of anything having to do with women/girls. It begins with a brief (child)life story of some great heiress who was bounced around among a bunch of men for her fortune and after that, pretty much zip. It was…
Gawd! At least the book “Being a Tudor” covers nearly as much of women’s lives as men’s. Probably because it was written by a woman. And it only covered ‘nearly’ as much, because there weren’t as many records of women’s day to day lives as mens. Of course.
It’s pretty good. They totally smacked down these critics in the ending part where they read letters from listeners. They also brought up that they get shit when they do “too many” episodes about POC
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast ran into the same problem. They do a segment about forgotten scientists and highlighting their contributions. They were highlighting women scientists less than 50% of the time but were getting complaints about too many women being mentioned.
Even if the show were 100% about women it still wouldn’t make up for the fact that we literally don’t exist according to school textbooks.
They do! In addition to clerks they have some office staff - I have a friend who worked for a justice as an admin-type person before law school.
Lucifer clasps his sooty hands together, as he sits behind a bright red-orange desk surrounded by flames, wearing a black Snuggie. He tosses his head back, unleashes a piercing cackle and pounds on the desk, knocking his scepter off in the process. “Yes,” he whispers. “Hamilton is crumbling.”
Javier Munoz - who will likely take over for Lin since he’s been the understudy - is actually better in the role than Lin, IMO. I adore Lin, but Javier brings more of an edge that I think the character needs. I didn’t feel like I was missing out when I saw his performance.
Ditto. I don’t know why they don’t do that more often. My DVD copies of the original cast Broadway productions of Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George are among my most treasured! And I had the 10th Anniversary concert edition of Les Mis on VHS (recorded off PBS) for yeeeeaaaars before I got the CD and…
I had so many good things happen to me this morning, and then this happened.
WELL WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF CAFETERIA DOESN’T HAVE THE TWO BEST CUISINES IN THE WORLD
I’m actually a little shocked that they don’t have one. Takeout? For the highest court in the land? They can’t have at least a cafeteria or something?
No kidding. I’d be a grumpy shit too if I ate crustless sandwiches and bland yogurt.
Forgive my limited West Wing level of understanding of the Supreme Court behind the scenes, but I thought getting lunch and dinner was part a big part of the reason they had clerks. I mean, I know they’re highly qualified law students who do research and writing for the cases, but even so. If you’re worried about how…
I remember the day (as a wee one of no more than 5) my adult neighbor and I had this exchange
I can’t even begin to guess, but I’ll bet that once — just once — someone brought in fish and microwaved it and there was hell to pay.
Yogurt? I’m surprised Souter wasn’t eating mayonnaise straight from the jar.
This takeout problem might be a very serious issue. Research has shown that one of the most important elements in various kinds of crucial decisionmaking is the length of time since the decision maker last ate. Studies of parole boards in Israel found that the largest single factor, more than the severity of the…
