Silent Girls. Author Eric Rickstad is a New Englander, a genius and a feminist. Sequel just came out. Gorgeously written and perfect for Halloween!!

Fuck Dove. First of all if some guy scream “Bitch” at a woman, and that woman says it’s fine, it still is verbal aggression towards all women in earshot. Secondly though, Dove is basically Unilever, who refuses to budge on palm oil (except fake, scammy first-party certifications). There simply is no bigger threat to

I’m kidding of course Eleanor you rock.

Now playing

This post is an insult to toddlers. I know 4 year-olds who know better. And, um......

You sound like every creep who’s ever sexually harassed me at work. Actually heard at an HR seminar: “I don’t understand, these women who jog by me, I just want to say hello to them. Why do they get so defensive when all I want to do is chat”? Clueless.

That’s AWFUL. Here I thought the main story was an anomaly. Honestly this is exactly why so many women avoid hospitals. ☹️ I’m sorry that happened to you.

I agree it’s hard to know what the correct medical decision was - what people seem to be missing is that according to the mom, he threatened to have her child taken away. Which is always wrong.

Exactly!!

If you think C-sections pose no risk to mom’s life, I’m not sure what level Biology you could have completed, much less any understanding of medicine.

Imagine the response if the doctor said her other kids would be taken away if she had an abortion! Wondering what’s changed here.....? Honestly, I think these posts bring out the trolls (I don’t recognize most of these handles) and the “skeptic” crowd, maybe alt-left, is notoriously anti-woman.

YOU would take the doctor’s advice? Meaning you would have a C-section? Or meaning YOU would stand there beside the doctor, and threaten to call the state to have her kids taken away. Which is it?

I can’t believe some comments here saying the baby should have come first, and the doctor was right to threaten legal action against this clearly sick, weak patient. It sounds like something that would happen in some godawful dictatorship.

OMFG why do people like this comment before reading the frigging article.......

Wow, so the doctor threatening legal action against the vulnerable mom if she didn’t agree to major surgery was right, in your mind? I’d hate to hear your views on abortion.

“Suggesting”?

Good timing with this story, I seem to remember some trolls freaking out when I dared suggest home births should be a woman’s choice. These moms are usually accused of being new-agey and anti-science, when in fact the recklessness of some hospitals appear to be gone-chillingly dangerous for new moms. https://www.thegua

That is really helpful, thanks!! Great advice. I’ve learned that if there’s one “good” thing about hypochondria, it’s that it gets me to see doctors earlier, usually. Although that boat sailed with the mammogram I suppose, I hear it standard now to get tested at 38. (!) 🙂🌸

Thanks!! ❤️❤️

Patients laying on the table cannot fully consent for the mere reason that they do not fully understand the implications of this. It’s not usually the surgery that poses the biggest risk your life, it’s the anesthesia. Distracting the staff keeping an eye on your vital signs (breathing, heart rate) is never safe. This
