This show was a balm at the end of the day, and I'll miss it. And as a nerd before ALL of you (I started going to Star Trek conventions in 1976), I think the hate for Hardwick is ludicrous. He clearly loves geek culture. The essence of the culture has always been inclusiveness. I say the more, the merrier.

Exactly right, Awesome. This is a direct WWII analog. They often knew the Jews were Jews simply because they were hiding. Why hide otherwise?

Well, as you already know from your Dad, it's awful. Shockingly so. Near impossible for a while, and then slightly less impossible. Grief is a powerful force.

Me too. I'm 52. My mom, who passed away last year, was often "mommy". My 83 year old dad is "daddy". It might be partially cultural - we're Italian-American, and I know it's common in other IA families.

Best Cheers/Norm line:
"What's shaking, Norm?"
"Four cheeks and a couple of chins."
