Besides being a Fiat, I think the only auto in the 500L is a really clunky automated one. In the US we mostly only buy automatics. It's really stupid of Fiat/Chrysler to not have found some torque converter automatic to stick in the 500L.

Well, the new one coming out is twice as good in every way. Some people were probably put off by the 2 person only back seat - you might rarely put three people in the back seat of a Prius, more often an extra kid, but it might come up now and then - but that's one of the things they are correcting.
