Saturn never got the GM Dustbuster minivan, even though it was built like a Saturn and sold by three divisions. I think it might have gotten the really boring poor crash rated successor after they stuck a hood on it and pretended it wasn't a minivan, for year or two, but not sure about that.

Buick exists to be halfway between Chevy and Cadillac and bring over a lot of rebadged Opels, plus have a couple of bigger vehicles. This all establishes a clearly different identity from either other GM brand. Plus China loves them. So they sell Buick/Opel/Vauxhauls in three continents at least.

Interview "game" sums up most of them. The interviewee like you said is in a trap. Many managers get off on being the god in the situation, or something.
Job interview are full of all kinds of traps that just seem to be commonly done in order to stoke the ego of the person doing the interview, not get good people for the job. And I've been on the interviewer side. Hope I did better.
