I was kept out of the school system until I was 13 and I wasn’t homeschooled, so I taught myself to read. Because of that I never experienced being forced to read- a book was my only means of mental escape, which now I see as a silver lining.

I have PTSD from my childhood abuse- I may be trapped in a mental prison now, but I will take that over my literal childhood imprisonment any fucking day of the week.
