Another ISU grad here! I’ve always thought that Iowans tend to be very laid back and accepting because it’s not a state where many people choose to go. There are no mountains, oceans, national parks, or mega cities that normally attract people. The winters are brutal and the summers are gross. I think that idea dawned

That is not true. I’m an Iowa native, and have lived in several different places within the state. I agree that Iowa City is one of the more liberal places in the state as it had the highest percentage of Democratic votes in 2012. But it’s far from the only one. The northeast two third of Iowa all voted Democrat in

That’s the first thought that came to my mind. Linguists and anthropologists crave opportunities like this. I wonder if that is part of the reason this film was made - to raise awareness of Marie’s efforts and possibly bring in others interested in preserving the language.

Thank you. I’m an Iowa native and lived there for 37 years.

Oh, I agree. I didn’t think badly of Gisele for referring to him as her son, but I could see people doing so. I was just surprised the use of stepson was eliciting a similar response. But as you point out, perhaps people were upset at the use of stepson in that it singles him out from her biological kids.

Vincent Kartheiser has been pretty vocal in the past on not having kids. I know people can and do change their minds depending on the circumstances of their lives, but this news surprised me.

I think it was probably just a matter of awkwardness. It would be tough to be in the start of a relationship knowing that in a few months, another woman would be having your boyfriend’s baby. It also meant that said ex-girlfriend would remain in his life for years because of said baby. I’m not a big fan of Gisele, but

I do so hope that we see some pictures of The Rock cuddling his new baby after she arrives. Pictures of big burly guys cuddling little babies is the bestest, most awesomest thing in the universe. I’ve felt deficient since Tyreese was killed off on The Walking Dead. *sniff*

I can see why people might be pissy about her using the term “son,” (although attacking her for that is really a dick move), but why would “stepson” bother people? It’s her husband’s son from a previous relationship. That’s...a stepson.

The article mentioned the father of her two children was a “former husband,” so I don’t think so. She said when she and DJ professed their “love” that she was prepared to leave her husband. I’m guessing that once her husband found out about this he understandably decided he no longer wanted any part in the marriage.

I remember that one! It had something to do with students at a school for physically disabled students allegedly being tortured or something like that.

Or perhaps Kang and Kong as Bill Clinton and Bob Dole.

I hadn’t heard of Ouidad before. It looks like there are a few certified salons near me, so I may have to try that out. I go to an Aveda Institute salon, which is much better than my previous place. It’s happened far less now that I’ve started going there.

Same here. And I was starred for years before the format was changed.

It’s true! Moss has kick ass texture and good, even curl.

Right? Especially in Texas. I’m in Tennessee and my hair doesn’t last more than a couple of hours after straightening, which it doesn’t do that well in the first place.

Lucky. :( I think I may be relegated to the greys forever.

In other words, your hair is awesome? :D

Really? I’ve found the opposite to be true in my experience. I get lots of compliments on my curly hair. Maybe that’s because it looks like ass when it’s straight. (It does.)

As a 2C/3A curlyhead, I concur and love that GIF.
