+1 for changing the needle! I had loops forming on both sides of my fabric, and the manual had sections addressing loops on top or loops on the bottom, but not both. After scouring some very old sewing forums that suggested there might be a tiny burr on the needle point, I replaced it and the problem disappeared.
This post interests me because it’s exactly the opposite of what I expected. There are a ton of articles out there right now that talk about coding via everyday analogies (LH linked to a good one a while back, actually: http://carlcheo.com/compsci), but very few that try to go back the other way.
