NIce Price, this thing appears to be rust free and cosmetically good, reasonable miles. There is definitely a market for these. The mechanicals are simple and cheap to repair. It is undoubtedly inferior to a modern car in most every way, but that is the fun of it, not comparing performance, comfort, NVH, ride and

This fits into my “If a Thing is what you want, this is probable a good one to grab” philosophy. I mean, it’s pretty darn nice for what it is and you’d be hard pressed to find another or restore one to this standard for $12K. I suppose it’d be a fun runaround car if you lived in a resort town or had a house on the

My first choice is from a nice tour bus, but second choice is certainly either one of my convertibles. Here relaxing on my mother’s lawn in the fall in Maine:

Y’all keep asking, but the answer is obvious:

NONE! No car! Don’t do this. I’m sick of following you, going 15 mph under the limit and drifting back and forth over the double yellow as you point out varieties of dead leaves. They’re freakin’ leaves. They do this every year. Just look out the window of your house if you need to see a yellow leaf that badly.

Something that lets you go where the roads aren’t so busy.

Mitsubishi Mirage. Build a tiny terror!

The Honda Accord. The old Accord Sport with the 2.0T and a manual was super rad. Throw the Type-R/Integra engine in it and give it a manual. Lower it on some sport springs and put a more agressive front end on it. As a matter of fact bring back all the old Japanese sedan sport models. Altima SE-R, Sentra SE-R,

My wife drives a Crosstrek, and it’s a great little car, but a WRX Crosstrek would be so fun. And given that plenty of brands use the  letter X to say “Cross”, they could even call it the WRXtrek.

I’ll go one further - every single Mazda. They already want to be a budget alternative to the Germans, who do M/AMG/RS versions of just about every car they build. I’m not saying I’d have bought a Mazdaspeed CX-5 (because I’m cheap), but I’d have lusted after it stronger than the regular turbo I wasn’t willing to

I still wish Stellantis adopted a policy of dropping a Hellcat in everything. A 200 Hellcat, Pacifica Hellcat, Dart Hellcat, and ProMaster Hellcat would have been absolutely hilarious.

Ya’ll, the answer is simple. Mazdaspeed5

I wish there was a sportier version of the Mazda6. I’m on my second estate. I had a 2.2D, which died when the oil pump broke. It was fast enough and had pull, even in lower gears, but sublimely in the high gears.

Now I have a 2.0 (NA), which is a bit slow tbh. Struggles in the upper gears, but pulls ok in the low end.

OKay, let’s get stupid.

Subaru Crosstrek STI

I’ve said this many times, but if you aren’t shifting your own gears, who cares?  Not like any slushbox is that fun to drive either.  My biggest beef with CVTs is that they often put fake shift points in them just to make folks feel better about it.  We don’t need that and I think folks don’t really care about that

It was only season 1, but still in the top 3 episodes ever, IMO.  M...as in Mancy.

Currently on sale? I’d have it be the CT5-V Blackwing. It’s the last V8 manual caddy is going to produce, so I’m sure it’ll charge a premium.

Without getting into the best and worst MR2 generations or MR2 vs. Miata or MR2 v. Boxster (hadn’t thought of that, but yeah, prices are in the same range) I will just say I like these cars, they are agile and zippy, which is what a small sports car is supposed to be.
