The warts-and-all making-of documentary on the DVD (from the makers of Lost in La Mancha!) is almost as good as the movie itself. Bruce Willis acts like a prima donna. Terry Gilliam fires a child actor on the day of shooting. The test audiences hate the film. It's great. (And it's on YouTube!)

Hey, RAT RACE is pretty good.

Hey, RAT RACE is pretty good.

I loved the part where he made sure to justify the Hiroshima bombings while being interviewed about visiting the peace memorial.
"Lots of people died here — LOTS OF PEOPLE DIED AT PEARL HARBOR"

There isn't any implied sarcasm. People started saying "I could care less" because there's one less syllable, so it's easier, and they don't really understand what they're trying to say. The after-the-fact justification that maybe it's really supposed to be sly and ironic or something is stupid.

Not a single joke landed. Not one funny thing in 22-odd minutes of trying.

The Dexter "parody" is terrible. Two thirds of it is Ned seeming to do murderous things until it turns out that he's just doing typical household chores. Motherfuckers, that's not a joke, that's what the real Dexter opening is!

Yeah, the show just got added to Netflix in Canada, so I'm planning to blast through the first season before I get too far behind on season 2.

"Donna" ain't short for "Donald".

"In my mind, I’ve
replaced the push-in to the plant's tag with LILY OF THE VALLEY printed
in large sans-serif capitals with a less overt version — perhaps a
flashback to that gun spinning and pointing with a little extra
rack-focus for emphasis, or better yet, a camera drift around the pool
with the plant as its pivot

It turns out it's MAN!
