Most of the really ripped men I know are gay, I’d be careful with that assumption...

Love all the dudes coming here telling you that rape survivors are such rare and mythical, unicorn-like beings that they can’t possibly tell their own stories

...I don’t know why I used ‘or’ there. Feeling generous today!

They’re definitely complicit, imo. I’m sure they have the capability to block him but it’s either laziness or the fact that he drives up the comment count and outrage factor that’s stopping them from doing it.

He doesn’t really care about the story either, he just genuinely has nothing better to do than hang out and comment in a place he hates.

Thank you for this. The whole ‘most racism is actually classism’ thing is really tiresome. White standards of beauty, colorism and colonialism are a major cause of all of these (occasionally) dangerous cosmetic procedures.

As I mentioned to OP, in Asia, the market for “whitening” deodorants is actually pretty big. Particularly from Nivea. I’ve accidentally bought their poison a few times - you can imagine my internal screams.

In Asia a LOT of deodorants are whitening. It’s frustrating as hell trying to buy anything normal. I can sort of understand face creams etc, but white armpits???

Hah, fair enough.

alright alright, the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet

are you not going to bother with the rest?

“Ask one person for the time and they likely will give it to you. Shout it in a room, and everyone will wait for someone else to check their watch.”

Oh, that’s a great analogy!

Thanks for your thoughts. When I intervened on a public ‘domestic’ dispute (some dickhead threatening and raising his hand to his female partner), suddenly many people came around to do the same thing. Some people even got out of their car in the middle of the road to help. I guess I just assumed that there was a

Is it really relevant here? Genuine question. I thought the bystander effect was to do with stepping up in the first place. Morancy had already intervened at this point and was directly asking for help - I would assume the bystander effect was not, er, in effect anymore. (Just thinking based on my past experience)
