Then wait for their parent(s) to come to the school, and beat their asses in front of their bully kid to show them that their actions have consequences against others as well.

Yeah you’re still advocating violence against children, fuckhead. You don’t get to pretend you’re a reasonable person here.
“going to jail to protect your kid” is in no way protecting your child. that is not how it works. grow up
For me, 10/11 was harder than any of my teen years. I didn’t actually attempt suicide (also by wrapping something around my neck) until I was 11 but I know I’d thought about it well before then, and all of this was before the internet and the 24 hour news cycle.
You know it probably did. Ugh. That poor girl.
I heavily considered suicide when I was seven. I was generally planning on using a massive kitchen knife my family had. I was going to ram it into my heart.
People don’t seem to realize how prevalent social media is with kids. I am so, so glad I was born in the early 80s. Jesus christ. Poor child.
Yes, the parents.
Yes. I remember being miserable in grade school, but at least I got to go home and get some relief at the end of the day. Now everything is uploaded to apps, kids harass kids via text... It’s unrelenting.
I feel your pain with the severe bullying. Unfortunately, I thought about it a lot when I was as young as 7. Fortunately, I was too much of a chickenshit to go through with it.
Oh god, I hate the whole seme and uke trope and how prevalent and retrogressively heteronormative it is, seme as more masculine tops and uke as feminine bottoms.
Persona is frustrating, but I'm willing to give it some credit for at least TRYING to deal with these issues, and occasionally doing so in an alright manner. In P4, for example, I never saw Kanji as straight (and I think the dub actor confirmed that he didn't play him as such)— although the game definitely dances…
Westerners love to pervert Japanese terms. See also "Bukkake".
Worth nothing that yaoi is not necessarily being created or consumed by a gay audience - traditionally, yaoi has been produced by heterosexual female creators for heterosexual female readers. So you often get yaoi bundled up with a bunch of implicit homophobia and fetishized notions about what it means to be gay
Yeah, rape is a very common theme (in yaoi in particular). They're very, very fixated on enforcing "male" and "female" roles despite the lack of the other gender.
There's also the fact that there's already a precendent for same-sex romance in the Persona series. P2: Innocent Sin lets you romance Jun. Granted, yes, this was before romances were heavily developed side-stories, so it's really just like two lines of dialogue, but still, it was there and it was tastefully portrayed.…
Absolutely. That's why I brought up Yuri on Ice—if those people can treat their LGBTQ+ characters and audience with respect, then Atlus damn sure can as well.
I think it's more a reflection on the game's main director than on Japan as a whole.
As someone who has consumed his share of Japanese imported content over the years, I get that to an extent, but like..one of the most popular anime series in the world this past year centered around a gay couple that isn't fetishized or made a joke of. So I'm kinda beyond that being an excuse anymore.
Yeah, I think the prevalence of media like yuri and yaoi manga that we are exposed to give the idea that these aren't niche but they are. More general mainstream entertainment is usually not going to be as progressive.
