The world of EV’s will be fine.  It’ll be US automotive corporations, which like the 1980s, will suffer again from inaction and staying rooted in the past.  Of course, US consumers/citizens will suffer as well.

But if we all drove EVs instead of ICEVs, we wouldn’t get to waste time arguing about the best oil, the best gas grades, transmissions, transaxles, rear diffs, best gear to be in, best gas-saving doodads, best oil filter, best intake air filter, best exhaust, best spark plugs, best cylinder deactivation defeat…

I’ve tried to have this conversation with many EV deniers and their response is basically “we can drill here in the US” and some combination of “infrastructures!” and “solar power doesn’t work when its cloudy”. Short term thinkers.

Depending on who wins — former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris — the world of EVs could look a lot different to start 2025.

As long as we have the GOP being lapdogs for oil and gas industries and their base being too stupid to realize that EV and renewables are the real answer to energy independence rather than just drilling more domestically, we will never get there. 

Or how about ending subsidies for the oil and gas industries that have been going for almost a century and are among the most profitable companies in the world?

EVs should get government subsidy for at least as long as the oil and gas industries have... and as soon as those industries stop getting subsidies we’ll know how long that will be. 

The EV thing is so political. But its part of a great foreign policy strategy. We can make all the Oil and Nat Gas we want, but we can’t control the total supply of the market. So OPEC+ can always adjust supply and impact prices.

Regardless of which side of the “political aisle” you sit on, it is wild to me that there is a large group of people who are simply unwilling to accept anything that could improve the environment.

And unless the report I read years ago was bogus, there’s a really high documented medical problem of kidney issues from frequent exposure to this old military jeeps. Turns out the natural frequency of the engine/chassis couples efficiently into your kidneys and rattles the hell out them.

If you’ve ever driven past an Army convoy and noticed the occupants look miserable, it’s because it’s loud as fuck and rides like they forgot to put springs on it.  I will never figure out why a civilian would ever want one.

Everyone is complaining, but nothing is getting done to repair it.
