Thank you and I agree totally. I'm under no delusion that anyone is obligated to educate me, but the reality is that I have to learn somewhere. Responses of "Just Google it!" are so unhelpful— especially because Google is wrought with conflicting and downright wrong information.

No, no it's really not. It's akin to saying "communicating with a series of sticky notes is dumb." Paper and pencil allow you to write things using sentences and paragraphs and meaning and ideas. Twitter allows you to write things that are very short.

This is why I don't use Twitter. I think it's great that some people have used it in politically progressive ways, but I just don't have any interest in seeing the random 140-character thoughts of people, even if they are important, smart people. I would rather read their personal blog, which at least lets people

true enough - maybe certain people should avoid "tw" things, like twitter and twerking.

I love puppies, but I used to work in the sex crimes and child abuse unit in the same county at the same courthouse, and I never once saw protesters show up to protest against a defendant in a case I worked on. Just saying.

Oh boo hoo, the privileged are tired of hearing marginalized groups complain about their oppression. Won't someone PLEASE think about the non-transgendered people?

Can we talk about how that appears to be an iPhone 5 screen badly photoshopped onto an iPhone 4 so the aspect ratio is all fucked up? C'mon, JC Penney junior designer! You can be better!

To address allegations of "surgery shaming" further down in the comments, I want to post what I wrote on Facebook while discussing bariatric surgery with friends:

My grandmother had disordered eating for most of her adult life, and suffered many complications from a fad weight-loss attempt in the 80s which I guess WORKED, but not worth the cost. She often regretted it, out loud. It was so sad.

I'm not sure you meant to reply to me.

I hadn't though of scar tissue. That could mess her up bad.

You are right. Alcoholism is a huge problem in people who lose weight through surgery. You can't eat anymore, so you drink. This happened to me. I became a functional alcoholic and still struggle. I think it will always be a struggle for me. I am in my third attempt at complete sobriety and am sober 2 days now. There

I just did a little quick and dirty research, and I read on a Harvard site that large amount of weight gain or loss can cause fertility issues. Obesity related hormonal issues are in the top 5 causes. But, losing weight can drastically mess up your hormones and egg quality no matter how you lose it. It happened to me.

Yes, the sleeve is being done over the more drastic surgeries now. My neighbor had it after serious complications with gastric banding and has had terrible complications. She can wear kids clothes and has trouble eating much. She drinks special shakes and eats through the day to keep well. I personally know someone

I've had two healthy pregnancies (and I'm obese, by medical standards) and my best guess at this would be that without having a normal full-sized stomach, she can't process enough nutrient-rich food to actually keep a fetus alive and growing. Pregnant women have to consume a lot of calories to sustain a growing life

As I said above, losing weight made my fertility worse, and I am not malnourished. My doctor said I messed it up from being so morbidly obese for years that there is just no going back. What if she was infertile before and didn't know it? Unless we know that, we can't argue that the surgery caused it. Morbid obesity

Seriously. CoverGirl should jump on the chance. Charming AND adorable AND in a major makeup buying age range?

I would really love to see some data on the incidents of death related to this surgery.

A month after I started a new job, one of my co-workers DIED as a result of complications from gastric bypass surgery. Not from health problems afterwards, but in the actual surgery. (I didn't know her because I just started, but there was a company-wide condolence email sent out saying that.)

She could play herself in the movie, she's perfect looking.
