What’s exactly supposed to work about Elon’s production method?

Funny because early 2010-era Hondas all had a reputation for lots of road noise. I remember driving my ex’s ‘07 Civic, and that thing was deafening at 70 MPH on the freeway. When I got back into my old ‘06 Camry, my hearing started to recover.
The side impact test conducted by the IIHS represents a good percentage of injury causing side crashes. However, the test could definitely be more severe. Perhaps the IIHS does not care about the accidents most likely to cause fatalities and focuses instead on those causing debilitating injury.
It used to be Top Safety Pick Gold and Top Safety Pick Silver, but car makers hated the obvious distinction. Saying your car only received a Top Safety Pick SILVER award sounds bad, since everyone will be wondering why not GOLD. Saying your car received a Top Safety Pick sounds much better.
You can disagree all you want, but even to verify that an autonmous vehice is as safe as a human takes more miles than you think
“The small overlap crash test was implemented to improve protection for the occupants in the even of a car straying over the centre line, resulting in the driver’s sides of the incoming vehicles meeting unacrimoniously.”
German researchers noted that small overlap crashes are a significant problem in, well, Germany. Also, Volvo noted that small overlap crashes were also a problem in Sweden back in the 80s.
I agree that 17 deaths from faulty airbag inflators frankly isn’t that big of a deal when over 30,000 people in the US die each year while driving and that 90+% of accidents can be attributed at least partly to driver error.
What?? Did you even look at the picture of the crash aftermath? The Volvo was on its side. That means the Volvo must have been broadsided by the driver who failed to yield. I fail to see how a human driver can anticipate being broadsided since humans tend to be looking forward at the road and not constantly scanning…
The place you are suggesting Tesla put another sensor or improve its capabilities is the upper half of the car. The upper half is where the driver’s head is though. That’s the ultimate detection system.
This is called trailer underride. If the trailer had the appropriate underride guards, the Telsa wouldn’t have slipped under and the driver’s head wouldn’t have been guillotined by the edge of the trailer.
They didn’t test both the Silverado and Sierra. The test ID for the Silverado and Sierra small overlap test is identical (CEN1601). Yeah, they’re listed separately in the table above, but their test IDs are identical and all the test data are identical.
Guess who:
