very first post is victim blaming. good fucking job.

I would rather a million children with disabilities get games that they can play than see another mini-NES or Amiibo come off the assembly line for whiny man-babies and scalpers.

I think you are confusing being “serious” as being an actual emotion. Its not.

Last I checked this is Tomb Raider, not Indiana Jones. The tone of the games and Lara’s personality are perfectly fine as they are. She has plenty of personality when they show her excitement in finding clues and seeing the things she sees.

She’s not Indiana Jones. If the writers want her to be serious all the time then that’s their choice. If you don’t like it, play something else.

Not everything has to be played for laughs, but even super serious movies still have moments of levity because of the importance of having emotional dynamics within the narrative. Having one tone throughout the entire piece is a recipe for boredom.

You find the new Lara Croft boring for a single reason:

I actually preferred Lara not being this cocksure seasoned adventurer who feels the need to blow everything off in some generic quip. She’s stuck in a shithole being hunted down by zealots, not exactly a lot of jokey material to work with, and while you don’t know her dad the idea of trying to live up to a parent’s

I think that the lesson here is that the gaming community is fucking stupid in general.
