Considering there is currently NO alternative at time of writing to use 3rd party controllers it seems it is in fact the only option.

Not sure I understand why it’s a ‘kludge’, it works and would let anyone with a unsupported controller play their PS5 games. It’s been around for 6 years as well, I don’t think it’s going anywhere...

Check out REPL4Y for PC. You can use pretty much any pc compatible controller with the PS5 via remote play.
