" If your coffee is too bitter, try a finer grind. if it's too weak, make it a little thicker."

Decent conical burr grinders start at more like $80 or $100 (US), I think. The Capresso Infinity is about $90, for example.

You could do that, but you'd end up with a longer-than-desired brew time because it takes a non-negligible amount of time to filter the coffee.

Pourover is beloved by coffee geeks because it offers lots of control. You have control over the water temperature, the blooming and wetting of the grounds, the brew time, etc, none of which is possible with automatic machines. Also, coffee tends to taste best immediately after it's brewed, so in a coffeehouse

Other than the increased possibility of boilover, yes. Just keep an eye on it and don't use the full capacity.

It depends on the type of rice used. "Sticky" short- or medium-grain is just fine, because the stickiness is due to the higher amylopectin content of those varieties. They tend to have a nice, firm, toothsome bite. Sticky long-grain rice, however, isn't so great. The stickiness is due to poor cooking technique

When cooking rice in flavorful liquids, don't forget the salt! For whatever reason, plain rice tastes fine w/o salt, but if you start doctoring it up without salting it (or using a salty liquid like chicken stock), you're missing out.

"The point is obviously that if fear of market volatility is what's been keeping you from saving for retirement, you shouldn't worry about it anymore..."

"To be honest, it makes complete sense that NBC would require a cable contract."

Fwiw, it looks like the historical annual return (CAGR) for the US stock market (1871-present) is about 8.9% (6.6% adjusted for inflation). At least according to the data/script at [www.moneychimp.com]

Um...What if you compare the same time periods? The height of the market was 2007, and the bottom of the market was exactly in March of 2009. The effect you're seeing is much more likely due to timing rather than management skill.

At minimum, unless you have extenuating circumstances, I'd contribute enough to get all the matching you can (which sounds like 5% in your case).

"all plans will have a money market fund which will allow you to either save money before taxes - a 15-35% instant return, depending on your tax bracket and state rate"

"401(k) balances are about 62% higher now than they were this time in 2009"

The density of water is 1 oz/fl oz, so 8oz H2O = 8 fl oz H2O.

I think [citation needed] that hot espresso poured over ice is the coffee notorious for its unpalatable sour character.

Hey, you gotta pry it open somehow. It's better than the alternative...
