The study does not include sex as a "mechanical method." A "mechanical method" is the insertion of a medical device such as a balloon or swellable gel that applies pressure to the cervix.

That's why I said to read the studies cited on Wikipedia. You're welcome to search PubMed or other databases instead. If you did so, you'd see that peer-reviewed studies indicate that in most circumstances, alcohol sanitizers are at least as effective as washing with soap. For example,
The CDC recommends 60%. The recipe should give about 66%.
The Hass Avocado Board (yes, really) recommends pureeing instead of mashing because it allows the antioxidant to be incorporated more homogeneously.
Alcohol-based sanitizers do not lead to the development of resistant bacteria. The mechanism of action (basically, dessication) is fundamentally different than that of antibiotics (metabolic or membrane interference).
Also noteworthy: most rubbing alcohol is sold at about a 70% concentration v/v water. This recipe calls for 99%, which, while available, is likely not something you "already have."
