@BrtStlnd: But "they" don't make SUV's and fleet cars. Maybe, "they" think they can use hybrid technology to make their cars perform better? The high torque at low RPM nature of electric motors has been brought up more than once, and is an interesting way to get around the low-RPM performance of a high-revving V12.

So, hybrid supercars won't save the planet. That's a fine conclusion.

@twinturbo2: Is the sky still blue in the world you live in?

@Madcows: I'm positive about lots of stuff on here. I just frequently feel that it's not worth my time to jump on an article just to post "Do want!", or anyone else's time to have to read it.

@leavethegun-takethecannoli: Come on, if they're campaigning the car in a major racing series, they've got enough money to put in a complete aftermarket gearbox, let alone put a custom, stronger gearset into the factory box.

Do want.

@somnambulance: Or, you could not live out in the boonies. For my entire life, I've rarely ever had to travel more than 35 miles round trip to get to anywhere in town. And, I've never had to leave town to go to work, grocery shopping, restaurants, wherever.

You had to know that at some point, somebody would try to give the Panamera that GT3 RSR look. And frankly, aside from the rear fender flares, I don't think it's that bad.

Beige bites back? Oh wait, that car is orange.

@chrismcdowell25: If the government has no right to tell anyone what to do, then why do you pay taxes? Or stop at stop signs? Or any of the numerous other instances when the government (federal AND local) tells you what to do. The government is there to provide a framework for addressing matters of public

@sinyster: That study (singular) is bullshit. Hybrids aren't worse for the environment than normal cars. For the most part, the environmental impact from building a normal car is similar to the impact from building a hybrid.

@wheatieboy: Porsche is never going to address the issues of over-consumption because their business model is built on overconsumption. But hey, maybe if they make this car, some advanced hybrid technology gets developed and can make its way to other cars that the VAG builds. And that's a good thing. I'll never

@Thomas Paladino: The free market doesn't adequately address environmental issues, and thus it is necessary for governments to regulate industry and provoke these changes.

@sinyster: It's easier to keep a coal power plant clean than it is to keep a lot of cars clean. Hybrids aren't making things worse, and are one of the first steps to actually making things better. And companies that are out there trying to push the boundaries of hybrids and alternative fuels should be lauded.

@engineerd: Hybrid systems have the ability to recover energy through regenerative braking that would otherwise be lost. They also allow the gasoline engines in the system to potentially run at a different (and more efficient) loading condition than would otherwise be required by vehicle speed. That makes them

@engineerd: The auto industry is changing because the government is forcing it to. But the government is forcing it to change because the market isn't adequately addressing environmental needs. If we allowed the market to determine the level of environmental controls on cars, we wouldn't even have catalytic

@doug-g: Thank you for being reasonable. I'm really tired of whiners complaining about how the automotive industry is changing.

@Adam Spano: Are you kidding? The mouth breathers are gonna complain about the "hybrid" part just like they always do.
