I love how "expensive" starts at $6.50 (I'm assuming per pound). Which lumps flank steak into the same cost category as filet mignon and prime rib. Flank around here (DC area) is about $4.99-$6.99/lb (choice) and filet can be as low as $15.99/lb (choice). *huge* difference.
There is a "loophole" in the "inappropriate real estate deductions" - when you sell the property. If you've been losing money on a rental (and you can prove it was fair market rent), you can't claim it on your "current" taxes, but in the year you sell the property - the losses since you owned the property as a rental…
wallet, iphone, chapstick, space pen, and car key. I only carry other keys when I know I need them. And I don't have a purse, so nothing in there...
We wash sheets about every 2 months (or when a cat pukes on them), and towels about once a month - I mean you're clean when you use them. As long as you're hanging them up to air dry well, should have no mold/smells on them. And if someone in the house is contagious (flu, cold, pinkeye): things get washed every day…
Same here (with about the same list of upgrades :)) - There are hacks to get Mountain Lion to run on it, but I'm not sure I want to go that route. I haven't upgraded my laptop to ML either. - nothing compelling yet. I might take the jump on hacking it (just running the Lion Kernel under mountain Lion userland), but…
I'm a talker (and sometimes sit or stand up according to my hubby). I can apparently open my eyes, have a complete coherent conversation with my husband about something, and have no clue about it until he says something to me the next morning. He says that sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm asleep or awake once I…
You are definitely not alone. I felt the exact same way - and I had zero physical issues to contribute to it. Heck, even a year and a half later, I still had similar thoughts. It's only after my daughter turned two (and I was on meds since she was 4mths old) that I feel like we've bonded.
I was asked at my 6wk appointment (everything feeling OK?), and my pediatrician (who's also my GP) is the one who "caught" the PPD and referred me to a psych. But even he didn't catch it until our 4mth visit and I finally broke down and answered his "are *you* doing OK?" question with "no, not really". The…
We're in the same boat - although, we do occasionally splurge on a $30-$50 bottle recommended by our wine store. There have been duds and there have been amazing bottles - and the same bottle can be both for different people. We buy what we like, and we like trying pretty much anything under $15 :)
One side of our house is 4 stories up and the others are 2-3 stories up - no way I'm climbing on a ladder to clean those gutters, I pay my gutter cleaning guy (personal business) $140 twice a year - totally worth it to me.
Any suggestions for sealing up electrical outlets/switches other than the foam things? I can feel cold air coming in through several of our outlets that have the foam behind them. Not sure I want to squirt some foam sealer in there in-case I need to get to the electrical, so I haven't done it yet.
amen!
We're in that same boat. We got lucky with our first, and she's going to be an only. Even if she's 26mths - I remember her first 6 months, and I *never*, *ever* want to go through that again. It's also quite liberating to get rid of/sell/donate all of the stuff she's grown out of.
With two adults and one toddler, we spend an average of $300/mth on groceries to include wine/beer, toiletries, cat food, cat litter, etc. And we eat meat every night - at least 9-10oz between the three of us - and not just the cheap cuts either: filet, NY strip, chicken breast, etc. We freezer cook, so one month we…
I just finished the Muirwood series from Jeff Wheeler - the first book is the Wretched of Muirwood. Fantasy genre. All three books are available in the lending library and otherwise cheap (I ended up buying the 3rd to keep reading the story). The "monthly" limit is by calendar month, so you can checkout a book on…
We've been Costco members for 6+ years. We bought their brand of baby formula while our daughter was still drinking it, and their baby wipes (we cloth, so haven't bought their diapers). We use the pharmacy for pretty much everything - it's got many things cheaper than our co-pay (and they take our insurance for more…
Also, many of the airlines are hip to this. They'll "helpfully" combine the two tickets for you if they're on the same airline or alliance.
We have several different preferred salt levels in our household. I *love* salt (I'm also a supertaster, so salt makes things edible for me), my grandmother-in-law hates salt (and has been told by her doc to avoid it). So if it's just me that's going to eat something, I'll salt the heck out of it - if it's going to…
I had the speech synthesizer, which was cool when you were in pre-school and liked the computer reading to you...
