When my oldest was three, he wanted to be a stop sign. I don’t know how he got that idea in his head, but he was determined. So my wife made him a stop sign costume, with a “slow” sign on the back, and I dressed up like a construction worker and carried him around all night.

My favorite was a robot costume as well. I stacked a small box on top of large box, covered the whole thing in foil, used those flexible dryer exhaust ducts for arms and stuck the guts of a couple of old thermostat bodies (my dad never threw anything mechianical away) to the front. Cut out an eye slit and covered it

I thought this was pretty good

I assume everywhere you went, you came groovin’ up slowly?

In 1996 I was the Grinch. “Enjoy Halloween, because there won’t be any Christmas this year!” People loved it.

As an adult, my favorite was going as the lyrics to “Come Together.” I just went with the assumption that every line of the song was describing a single person, and went with that. My favorite bits were the syringe I had with a tiny little Coca-Cola bottle in it, and my mojo filter, which was a little strainer with

I have two favorites. The first was when I was Batman at I think 6 or 7 years old. This was either 1968 or 69 and girls did not go as male superheroes, but bless my mom, she was always supportive and open-minded, so she got me a Batman costume!

My best costume was probably the universe. I wore all black and covered my clothes with glow-in-the-dark stars. We had the lights off or dim in every room but the kitchen, so from time to time I’d go in there for a recharge. My roommate said it was very effective.

Not mine but a few years back we dress Steerpike Jr as Shaun.

When I was little, I went as R2-D2 in a costume that I made all by myself with no help from anyone. It was awesome.

In 2005 I went as Wash, from Firefly.

White Lando to my buddy’s Black Han.

I am a little sad for much of the AVC staff here. Perhaps that’s because I worked in a costume store as my high school job, so I have EXPECTATIONS for Halloween. My favorite costume ever was my senior year of high school when I took full advantage of racks of unrented costumes, and went as Marie Antoinette - after the

This movie was one of the most gutting disappointments of the year. “Tinker tailor” and “Let the right one in” were great movies! The whole concept of a twisted zodiac style killer who taunts the police was kind of interesting. They had actors like Fassbender and JK Simmons and Toby Jones and Charlotte Gainsborug! The

“He also builds frowny-face snowmen (sans human heads) in the front yard of his victims’ houses, leading to multiple hilarious shots of disapproving snowmen overlaid with sinister music.”

I just feel bad for Harry’s son, Ash.

"Overall, he gives the kind of performance traditionally associated with stars who died during filming."

“They have a situation. It’s kind of very distinct.” is the most beautiful piece of film writing I've ever read.

"Most of the movie, he spends sitting down or walking (again, slowly) up and down flights of stairs."
