“If I were a fake psychic, it would be eerily similar.”

Psych is comfort food. I relax, enjoy the characters, still marveling that Juliette ended up with Shawn, and get my fill of the feel goods. I’m looking forward to this.

Crossing my fingers that this gets us a Burn Notice return for St. Patrick’s Day, just so we can hear Michael Westen turn into MOYKAL WESSEN.

What I love about both Christmas Carol and Treasure Island is how both movies play it like they’re pretty much doing a relatively straight movie adaptation of those stories, but half the cast happen to be Muppets. Like, Kermit isn’t being Kermit— it’s as if they hired Kermit to play Bob Cratchett and Capt. Smollet.

I love the Muppets Christmas Carol. I particularly like the fact that they make it funny whilst staying pretty faithful to the original, especially using emphasis to turn one particular Dickens’ line into the funniest thing in the movie: “Tiny Tim, WHO DID NOT DIE...” And Caine brilliantly plays it absolutely

I like his version of Cinderella. It was nicely cast, it looked and sounded beautiful, and it actually attempted to give Cinderella, the prince, and the stepmother a tiny little bit more depth than the animated Disney version.

His Henry V is legitimately great, and he’s great in the role. I also love his Hamlet - he had the audacity to make a 4+ hour adaptation of the entire, unabridged play - though I get it’s a bit florid for some. He’s also been good in straight acting roles in movies directed by other people. He was outstanding as Iago

Criminal charges should be brought against the execs who kept Clive Barker out of the editing room for Nightbreed, chopped up the footage, and hid it in the WB lot for 20 years without telling Barker. Thankfully, fans were able to petition WB for the footage and put it into the hands of Barker where it belonged so he

Followed by the taut political thriller about Japan-US relations, The Honda Accords.

There’s an important lesson in that: be the farting boner corpse you wish to see in the world.

The only version I ever felt the need to fast forward through was Tom Waits’ version. Blind Boys’ version is one of the best covers ever.

I actually LOVE the Angel theme song. It’s a perfect fit for the show, and I’m a sucker for cello. Though the visuals in the opening credits are pretty terrible... what a shitty font. That’s my Papyrus.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to “unabashedly celebrate” a relationship that, far from fitting contemporary ideas of “kinky, queer, polyamorous”, was centered completely around the man and his bizarre fetish ideology until after he died

Edge of Tomorrow is great.

So, to update the Groundhog Day information chart:

Now I heard there was a brand new book.
Padgett wrote so I’ll take a look,
But you don’t care for cover music, do ya?
Buckley’s was great, and Cale’s from Shrek
But all the rest are fucking dreck.
‘Cause every asshole on the Voice sings “Hallelujah.”

It’s weird how forcefully American Christianity tries to hang onto the vestiges of Calvinism. Personally, I find the older, “fallen world/free will” explanation of the Problem of Evil more comforting, as it suggests that, while we can never completely eradicate error or sin, we can take steps to minimize them in our
