Look, it may be that this book is doing a great job showing how systemic failures can lead perfectly ordinary people into supporting fascism and others into allowing it. That's valuable. That's necessary.

Ponyo is very sweet and a good choice for adventure that's not too intense. Kiki skews just a bit older, but it has nice messages. They both, of course, have some really lovely visuals and nice ensembles.

I wouldn't say Prince of Egypt is evangelical, so much as it's meant to be very accessible - a sort of updated family film equivalent of the big Biblical epics of the studio era. In my opinion though, if you're talking about American animated children's films from the 90's, only The Lion King competes with it.

That's a little disrespectful of the acting that's involved in voice acting, to me. There are still a lot of performance choices and real work involved, just saying it's "recording a voiceover" sounds like you're ignoring those.

I think one of the areas dubs can be really important, and which doesn't get talked about as much, is fast-paced comedy. It lets you keep up and can adjust some of the subtle tone differences or "translate" the delivery quirks that are crucial to making comedy fly.

I'm really attached to the original film/S.A.C. voice talent, so I pretty much always go with the subs, but even I'll admit that S.A.C. has a very good dub cast.
