Not enough of that Laurel Canyon Sound.
Not enough of that Laurel Canyon Sound.
plus…Bradley Cooper?!
I know this is an immensely easy analogy, but this season reminded me of a mediocre, high priced tasting menu.
Which is basically a meta-representation of where The Bear is as a restaurant.
I agree with everything you said. I actually liked to loved every episode but felt unfulfilled by the season as a whole. It felt like getting into a really nice car for four hours without ever leaving your driveway. A lovely experience but it went nowhere.
I've literally never seen that complaint, so I do wonder where you hang out and with whom...
I was today years old when I learned that the Jon Landau who produced Titanic different than the Jon Landau was was a huge Bruce Springsteen fan & collaborator

“We at The A.V. Club weren’t among those privileged few journalists”
“And if anyone knows where the old neon A.V. Undercover sign is, we’d love to use it.” I do.
Scariest was crossing a flooded road in my Ford Ranger. It was the tornados of 2011 (Alabama). Me and my roommates made a last ditch effort to get to my parents house and hope their power was on. We were out of power for several days and my parents were out of the country. It was a 30 min drive to their house in…
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t buy the framing here. I personally have no desire to be constantly chatting with neighbors or going out and meeting new people? I’m nearly 40, married and trying to have a kid. I have a small but close circle of friends, and a wider circle of acquaintances and co-workers, not to mention…
My hot take is that people are louder, dumber, and more miserable to be around than they’ve ever been, so I personally appreciate that it’s so easy to insulate myself from them.
It is hard to find 3rd places that do not cost a lot of money to go to. Places like brew pubs are awkward when you go alone and I do not like to drive after even having one drink. Community building is hard.
It just feels like Star Wars is stuck in its own imagery. It’s like the creative forces behind it think about what fans want to see first, come up with “cool” scenes, and then try to pin story to that imagery/those scenes. Andor was the only one to do it right, and it’s because they put characters first, Star Wars…
There’s just very little I can think of about these characters that makes me want a theatrical movie about them. They work great in television format, with slower storytelling (even if it’s been of varying quality). Grogu is a perfect couch potato character, where you can just giggle at how cute he is with really low…
I have never heard any one claimed they “Loved the Rise of Skywalker”. I’m also not the biggest Star Wars fan, which is why I loved The Last Jedi. But The Rise of Skywaker is cowardice in movie form. A studio bending the knee to the worst areas of fandom, attempting to make a film that doesn’t offend anyone, that…
My main question is:
WHY? Why? WHY?
The Mandalorian and Grogu sounds like an animated 15 minute show specifically aimed at 6 year old children.
They messed up the title. The biggest star gets top billing. Grogu is so important to the success of this show that they tried to write him off and then had to bring him back via another show. Read the room and play to your strengths y’all: The people want their Baby Yoda!
