In all honesty the RX-7 is a piss poor example of a rotary. The concept has been improved upon by a lot since then, making it far more reliable and efficient. With the original 80s RX-7 Mazda even replaced the engine for free (free-ish?) if it blew out because they knew it was still basically in the beta test phase.
