I don’t know if there has to be a rule that every trans character has to be played by a trans person. It would be nice if even one trans actor was cast in one of these roles, in a big budget movie.

Yeah, this. Also, there was a really great NYT editorial that said basically, “this probably isn’t a great tactic, but there’s a psychic and moral cost to pretending that these people are in any way public servants.”

For most of them, the clincher really was “he’ll let us smoke weed!”

Yeah. This happens because white people allow it. If we didn’t want it to happen, it wouldn’t.

This is a cry for help if I’ve ever seen one

Yeah, I don’t understand the Eden hate at all. She’s trying not to end up in the colonies or on a wall like everyone else. She’d like her husband that was forced on her to be nice to her sometimes, or acknowledge her at all.

Honestly, I’d say it’s a toss-up whether this makes any difference for men. It must be nice to be able to be able to entertain these thought exercises when actual women and Muslims and Jews are getting hurt and killed all the time.

Nah, they don’t sound like that. It’s just weird that he’d say he never abused her (probably a lie, sorry), and then went on to say she cheated on him. She probably did, but bringing it up in this context is meant to deflect and discredit her.

Yeah. Plus, “future father” — really dude? So, not actually a father to anyone quite yet.

Most men have mothers, sisters, girlfriends/wives and/or daughters, though. In fact, the people most likely to be victims of sexual assault or violence from men are those actually in relationships with those men.

Persona non grata? That’s not what’s going on here. He posted an especially irritating tweet on Monday, and now people who always found him irritating are writing posts that they’ve always found him irritating.

This was so sad. It made me cry for our own country, right now.

Yeah, I would hope that the US would lure her to Honolulu with promises of a baby, then be like JK TIME FOR YOUR WAR CRIMES TRIAL, DUMMY.

I took it as, the government knows how shitty things are for women in Gilead, but were willing to work with Gilead to some extent.

What about Kirsten Dunst, though? She’s super pink and looks great as a blonde. I think it’s just a bad shade.

Honestly, I think it depends. I have a few friends with chronic illness, or that have relatives with chronic illness who have a really hard-won weariness with doctors, and the healthcare system. Also, my own parents are doctors, and they disagree with other doctors all the time.

Yeah, when the media says that about Jen, I’m like, ‘but have you all seen her house?’ We should be studying her, not pitying her.

Absolutely. That is the question to ask. It’s so interesting. What would break her? I can’t even decide what it would be. Maybe the brothels? Idk.

Me neither. Maybe The Simpsons? (at season 10, not whatever the current season is).

Totally agree that Aunt Lydia is the show’s most compelling character, but there’s no way she doesn’t know what really goes on in the Handmaids’ houses.
