That word 'artist' gets thrown around a little freely here. They do a physical job. Maybe a craft. But a hairstylist is no more an 'artist' than one of the carpenters.

Off topic but on your last point it seems a little off that ,as you say, hairstyling is a heavily female profession, but the only famous ones I know are John Frieda , Vidal Sassoon or Nicky Clarke. Women can't even catch a break there .

I'm coming from a standpoint that all film awards are pointless and frankly, weird. Where's the cutoff though? Best carpentry, craft services? (I know set design is probably also a thing awards are given for)
