listen, the point, folks who are quick fall back into a flame war, is not that microsoft isnt a great company. it is, and its extremely profitable.

bill never got it... microsoft never got it.. never will, either (see, e.g. windows phone 7; outlook; hotmail; bing...) its always shiny on the surface but shitty at heart or left to rot for ages beyond the shelf life.

seems to me the author (in this brief blurb) is missing the point— its one thing to see what another thing sees, and have it move when I direct it to; its entirely another thing to FEEL that I am the other thing, experience consciousness through the other thing, which is what avatar is really all about. the point is

this is a good thing, it adds a shitload of liquidity to the market.

@kochira: i agree. i think the giz article misunderstood the WSJ article, which was really just pointing out that languages like Koro help us understand language in general because of whatever differences there are.
