Romaine lettuce was the culprit about a month ago. No one ever told me not to eat a salad while pregnant. Literally any food that isn’t cooked to 160 degrees can cause a Listeria outbreak. There’s only so much you can do.

So what part about Listeria being a relatively rare risk to the milk supply chain has you lording over everyone with a self important ‘I know science’ shtick?

Whatever keeps your sanctimonious self going, I guess.

My OB/GYN didn’t tell me I shouldn’t take ibuprofen until I told her that I had taken some ibuprofen. Like, even if you read the guidelines, there’s always something they’re not telling you.

I believe the proper term is Sanctimommy

A self satisfied faux-risk analyst. You’re pretty useless as a person and you know it.

Did you take tylenol?? I did, because I have bulging disks! Turns out, I read a study about a month after my son is born that there may be a link between tylenol and ADHD. Soo.... the doctor said I could take tylenol. I mean, the whole thing is effed.

Also, the latest outbreak when I was pregnant 7 month ago, hummus. No one told me not to eat hummus. I didn’t eat the hummus thank god, but I did eat sushi, cheese, lunchmeat... and wine once in a while.

Oh, so you’re one of those people.

Don’t forget that your food choices will affect the baby’s food choices later on in life, and read to them in-utero so they are smarter and can bond with your voice, and don’t get stressed out or experience anxiety because then your kid is fucked for life!!!!

Yes, I should have mentioned that! He’s doing so well. I’m in awe of him every day.

You’re still not hearing my point. Because you want to be bitchy about pregnant women drinking, or eating soft cheeses, or whatever. The point is, each pregnant women gets to choose her own risks, just as you get to choose yours, and “I don’t understand why it’s so hard not to drink for nine months” is beside the

Get exercise, because maternal obesity can affect the baby, but not too much exercise, because excessive exertion could affect the baby! Eat enough, but not too much!

It’s not a resistance to science. We all KNOW that alcohol damages your baby. The problem is that ALL these studies actually just show that drinking a shit-ton of alcohol or alcohol early on in your pregnancy harms your baby. No one bothers to study what amounts at what times in your pregnancy actually have any

The NYTreports that it’s typically unclear how common FASDs are because of how some symptoms are subtle, such as problems paying attention

But how does stigma help? There are reams of literature on how stigma does harm. And people don’t generally drink (at harmful levels) during pregnancy for shits and giggles—they’re doing it as a coping mechanism, because they have an alcohol use disorder, etc. And we know that stigma around addiction does a lot of

When I was pregnant, the most delicious thing in the world was the very first sip of a bottle of super cold beer. It was HEAVEN. I did it maybe 6 times. Thankfully I had a partner who was content to drink 6 95% bottles of beer.

“Maybe you just won the lottery.”

It’s some unhinged evopsych problem.

Of course! I just need to turn on my “open for fucking” beacon and I’m all set. I have the power!!!!!
