I’m just now catching up on season one of Altered Carbon (live action) and really getting in to it. It was one of my favorite “cyberpunk” SF novels and the show, which, errr... altered the plot some, is quite good. Looking forward to the anime and to season two with Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs.
So long as the person you're making it for isn't trying to 100% have no alcohol cross their lips, bitters have always been my go-to for mocktails. No one's getting buzzed off a few splashes, and I can make a mean blueberry old fashioned that can leave you exactly as drunk or sober as you want to be.
Order your club soda with lime, if that’s what you want, and when the bartender brings it over, ask “how much do I owe you?” They’ll either tell you the price, and you can pay and tip. Or they’ll say “no charge,” and you can thank them graciously and tip. Or you can order a club soda with a splash of cranberry and a…
Yeah to me the whole point of something like this would be to have something that doesn’t require a ton of other ingredients or a lot of mixology skill to use. If I’m going to be spending the money and/or effort to also buy and crush up fresh lavender or whatever, those ingredients can stand on their own. To me the…
What does a product like this offer that the existing add-ins and a bit of forethought couldn’t do?
I’ve been sober for 23 years and intend to remain that way in perpetuity (memories of how I got sober in the first place will always see to that), but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the experience of nursing a shot of good Irish whisky or a good peaty, medicinal Islay Scotch stolen from my friend Keith’s dad…
This.
I think you are exactly correct!
yes. yes they could.
I’m not “sober” sober but I probably have had around 3 drinks in the past 12 months and none since summer. I just wish I could order LaCroix in a glass out at bars. I’d gladly pay a premium for it and that way I wouldn’t have to worry about the social aspect of not drinking while enjoying a beverage that I really…
I hadn’t thought of this much before, but honestly, couldn’t a bartender make a variety of interesting non-alcoholic cocktails using the additives they already have, and using water/club soda/ginger ale/etc. as filler? What does a product like this offer that the existing add-ins and a bit of forethought couldn’t do?
I don’t do the drinking and driving thing, and often find myself as the DD, because I am the only one who can be counted on NOT to have a single sip of booze if I am driving. I usually stick with soda, except at craft bars. Ctaft bars seem to make their own elderflower lemonade, or the like, which is about the only…
But seriously, this is good info! I thought about buying Seedlip. I shall stick to a few shakes of bitters when I’m feeling low-alcohol-y.
I think you mean “little a seltzer, as a treat.” ;)
Expensive, and harmful. Let's not forget harmful.
I think she wants the media to ignore her. Goop thrives in the unvetted world of the middle class woman’s blog, the quack world of alternative “health”. Every time it gets light, it dies a little. Gwenneth would absolutely love it if the only people who talked about her products were the bloggers and Instagrammers who…
Public figures get written about...especially when they are pushing expensive bullshit on the public.
Gosh, how rude of us to use her for our own conversation fodder, like she’s a common appliance or houseplant. Perhaps we should do Gwynnie a kindness and outright ignore her for a while. Obviously, she would prefer to launch tv shows, release books, and set up wellness conventions in complete obscurity. Poor thing.
1. I would happily vote for Warren over any candidate right here and right now. That said, the Slate did an exceptional article on why she can’t get traction from voters.
